Former FieldHouse Pirate and Langley Blaze RHP Nick Trogrlic-Iverson (Oakville, Ont.) earned Player of the Week honors pitching 3 1/3 innings and allowing one run for the win.

Nick Trogrlic-Iverson enjoys pitching in the state of Arizona.

Or even in towns that have that have the same name as Arizona outposts.

With the Central Arizona Vaqueros, RHP Trogrlic-Iverson (Oakville, Ont.) earned Canadian Baseball Network college All-Canadian Third Team honours in 2018.

A 15th round pick by the Milwaukee Brewers, he pitched as a reliever as a freshman (24 games) and moved to the starting rotation as a sophomore. Combined, he logged a 2.61 ERA, striking out 131 and walking 44 in 124 innings.

He was drafted in the 15th round by the Brewers, but chose to transfer to Gonzaga University. In his junior season, he was a swingman, making seven starts and 19 relief appearances for the Zags. He totaled 41 strikeouts and 22 walks in 67 2/3 innings with a 5.05 ERA. In 2020, Trogrlic-Iverson made four starts, with a 3.80 ERA. He fanned 20 and issued three free passes in 21 1/3 innings.

The St. Louis Cardinals signed Trogrlic-Iverson as a free agent following the 2020 draft. And this season he is with the Peoria Chiefs -- the Peoria in Illinois, not the one by the same name which is the spring home of both the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners.

Trogrlic-Iverson had a solid week to earn Canadian Baseball Network minor league Player of the Week for Week XVI.

He gained the win in relief as Peoria scored a 9-7 win over Cedar Rapids Kernels, pitching 3 1/3 innings and allowing just one earned run while striking out three hitters.

Due to the mid-season break, all leagues had reduced schedules and therefore fewer players had required minimum at bats.

Nick Trogrlic-Iverson has been an important piece in the Peoria Chiefs bullpen this season, and this week made another solid relief appearance. On July 22, in a 9-7 win over Cedar Rapids Kernels, he pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing three base hits and one earned run while striking out three Cedar Rapids hitters earning his second win of the season. His overall record with the Chiefs in 19 High A Midwest League appearances now stands at 2-3, with one save and a 4.63 ERA.
