Official Ottawa Titans News Release

Augusta, NJ - It took until the fourth opportunity, but the Ottawa Titans (14-6) managed to sweep away the Sussex County Miners with a 9-2 victory on Sunday afternoon.

Tyler Jandron took the bump for the Titans in the series finale and once again took care of business by going six strong. Jandron allowed only two runs on three hits, striking out seven, recording his fourth quality start of the season.

The offence took centre stage with the Canadian duo of Jake Sanford (Cole Harbour, N.S.) and Brendon Dadson (Bowmanville, Ont.) going a combined 3-for-8 with five runs scored in the game on Sunday.

Sanford ends the week going 11-for-23 (.478 batting average) with two homers, nine RBIs and 12 runs scored. He has now risen his average to .292 since joining the club from the Yankees’ organization.

The Titans used seven runs in the fourth and fifth combined to put the game out of reach, as the offence was in full sync after stranding a season-high 19 runners on base in the win last night.

Following Jandron's outing, Grant Larson, Nelson Gonzalez, and Gavin Sonnier slammed the door in the final three innings, as the bullpen faced the minimum.

With the win, the Titans have extended their winning streak to a season-best five games and are 2 1/2 games back of the East Division-leading Québec Capitales.

After an off-day on Monday, the Ottawa Titans open a three-game series against the Trois-Rivières Aigles on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from Stade Quillorama. The Titans return home on Friday at 6:30 p.m. to take on the Empire State Greys.
