The Toronto Blue Jays traded left-hander Ryan Borucki to the Seattle Mariners on Saturday in exchange for infield prospect Tyler Keenan.
Borucki, 28, had been recently designated for assignment by the Blue Jays after being in the organization since 2012.
The Highland Park, Ill., native toed the rubber in parts of five big league seasons with the Blue Jays, but was hit hard in 2022. His ERA was a gaudy 9.95 in 11 appearances prior to the trade.
Keenan is a 23-year-old infield prospect who can play first base and third base. Selected in the fourth round of the 2020 MLB draft out of the University of Mississippi, he is in his second season in pro baseball. He is batting .250 with three home runs and 14 RBIs in 25 games for the High-A Everett AquaSox.
