Dawgs stay hot in Brooks

Okotoks, Alta. – The Dawgs travelled down to Brooks to start their two-game road series and defeated the Bombers in game 1 by a score of 6-0.
The Dawgs came out hot and scored two runs in the first inning and followed that with a four-run second inning. The Dawgs pitching helped to control the lead established early and prevent the Bombers from generating any offensive chances.
The Dawgs extended their win streak to seven on the year and will prepare to play on Sunday for the final game of the series.
Quinn Tocheniuk started on the mound and had an excellent outing. Tocheniuk pitched five scoreless innings and finished with seven strikeouts while only allowing one hit. Tocheniuk earned his first win of the season in his second pitching appearance of the year.
Relief pitchers Ryan Penner and Bode Brooks each pitched one inning to help the Dawgs secure their third shutout of the season.
The Dawgs bats were prominent early on and McCoy Pearce had an offensive game to remember. Pearce went 2-for-4 on the night with five RBIs, including a grand slam in the second inning that blew the game wide open for the Dawgs. Pearce brought his home run total to three on the season, one shy of the league lead. Noah Geekie contributed one RBI on the night on his single in the first inning.
