Dawgs shut out Gulls in battle of West Division leaders

Sylvan Lake, Alta. - The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Sylvan Lake Gulls 3-0 in front of 1,523 fans at Gulls Stadium on Wednesday night.

With the victory, the Dawgs improved their record to 27-7 and moved back into a tie with the Gulls (28-8) atop the West Division standings.

Offensively, Logan Grant (Chestermere, Alta.) led the Dawgs, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) also had an RBI double in the eighth inning.

On the mound, Garrett Maloney (Campbellsville University) started and fanned four batters in four scoreless innings.

Aaron Hammer (Campbellsville University), Zane Morrison (Campbellsville University), Greg Ross (Sarnia, Ont.) and Trent Warstler (Emporia State) contributed scoreless relief outings, while Ashton Luera (Oklahoma Wesleyan) struck out the side in the ninth to record the save.

The Dawgs return to Seaman Stadium on Thursday to take on the Gulls again.
