OF Canice Ejoh went deep to ring in the old year and went deep to new.
Ejoh (Brampton, Ont.) who plays for the Ontario Royals and coach Shawn Lynn, competed ninth Annual POWER SHOWCASE at Marlins Park in Miami.
He hit six home runs to finish fourth of 48 players in the 2015 class.
He also walked to lead off the fifth, but was also gunned down on a steal attempt thanks to a perfect throw from New Jersey catcher Herberto Vega as the East edged the West 5-4 in the All-American Classic.
And he was not finished their on his tour of Florida.
He headed for Fort Myers and the Perfect Game World Showcase where he was ranked 32nd of the assembled prospects.
C Hayden Jaco (Coquitlam, BC) of the Langley Blaze and coach Jamie Bodaly, hit two homers.
1B Matt Carscadden (Mississauga, Ont.) of the Ontario Blue Jays, who plays for coach Sean Travers and OF-1B Wyatt Larmand (Ajax, Ont.) of the Toronto Mets and coach Ryan McBride, hit one each.
CF Dennis Dei Baning (Toronto, Ont.) of the West Toronto Wildcats and coach Raf Choudhury; Jaco, Carscadden and Larmand were with the Nationals who scored a 9-4 win over Ejoh and the Americans.
1B Kevin Sengara (Vancouver, BC) who plays for of the Langley Blaze and coach Doug Mathieson, was with the West team.
1B Matheson Duff, 13, (Guelph, Ont.) of the Guelph Royals hit nine home runs, including a 413-foot blast, placing seventh of 55. He hit another two home runs over 400 feet.
He scored on a ground ball as the West beat the East 9-7 in the Future Stars All American Classic.
Duff was the starting and winning pitcher leaving after three innings with a 5-1 lead, striking out four and allowing three base runners: giving up two walks and one hit.
Ejoh’s trip to Florida wasn’t finished in Miami. He then headed across state to the Perfect Game World Showcase at Terry Park in Fort Myers.
There he was ranked 32nd of the 140 prospects.
He ran a 7.19 60 and his velocity from the outfield was clocked at 80 MPH.

Top Prospects 32. Canice Ejoh - OF - 2015 - Brampton , ON Ejoh is a young Canadian with big right handed strength in his swing. He has a low effort swing but a big impact with the barrel. He also ran the bases aggressively and showed overall athleticism.
LHP Jake Foden (Toronto, Ont.) of the Ontario Terriers and SS Trevaun Smith (Brampton, Ont.) of the Brampton Royals attended the World Uncommitted Showcase in Fort Myers.
Smith ran a 6.95 60 and was clocked at 77 MPH from his infield position, while Foden’s fastball was clocked at 78 MPH.
