Florida Atlantic's Leroux named to Brooks Wallace watch list

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The College Baseball Foundation released its midseason watch lists for the Brooks Wallace Award (nation’s most outstanding shortstop) and the National Pitcher of the Year.
Florida Atlantic baseball was represented on both lists, with senior shortstop Brando Leroux and sophomore starting pitcher Trey Beard named among the best in the country at their respective positions.
Leroux (Markham, Ont.) is batting .351 with three home runs and 22 RBIs in 33 games. The senior has established himself as one of the best defensive shortstops in Division I with just five errors in 136 chances (.963). Leroux is the only shortstop from the AAC on the midseason watch list.
Beard is one of 54 on the Pitcher of the Year watch list. Through 10 starts this season, the lefty from Dunedin, Fla., is 7-0 with a 2.78 ERA. Beard leads the AAC and is second in the country with 92 strikeouts.
