Outfielder Justin Gideon has re-signed with the Quebec Capitales of the independent Frontier League.

The 29-year-old slugger will return for this third season with the Capitales after hitting .287 with 20 doubles, three triples and 20 home runs with 65 RBIs in 88 games for them in 2024. Gideon (Pickering, Ont.) also compiled a .930 OPS. His 20 home runs and 65 RBIs topped all Canadians playing in the non-affiliated pro ranks last year.

In the post-season, Gideon had a .363 batting average and collected 12 hits, 10 runs and eight RBIs to help propel the Capitales to their third straight championship.

For his efforts, the left-handed hitting outfielder was selected to the Frontier League’s 2024 All-Star Team and named the winner of the Canadian Baseball Network’s Murray Zuk Award, as top Canuck hitter in the independent or foreign ranks.

His outstanding 2024 campaign came on the heels of his strong 2023 season with the Capitales in which he batted .275 with 22 homers in 94 games.

Before joining the Capitales, Gideon suited up for the Brock Badgers and also played seven seasons in the Intercounty Baseball League from 2015 to 2022. In the IBL, he played for Burlington Bandits, Hamilton Cardinals and Welland Jackfish.

Gideon has also played in Australian Baseball League for the past two winters.
