BARRIE, Ont. - The Barrie Baycats have signed starting pitcher Jeifry Nunez for the 2023 Intercounty Baseball League season.

Nunez, 24, joins the Baycats after spending the 2022 season with the Guelph Royals. Nunez was a member of the Texas Rangers organization from 2015 to 2019, posting a 3.06 ERA with low-A Spokane in 2019.

Nunez, who was born in the Dominican Republic, went 2-0 with a 3.13 ERA across five regular season starts in 2022. In 23 innings pitched, he struck out 25 hitters and walked only six.
