The Brantford Red Sox are proud to announce the signing of 2B/3B/C Lucas Bateman.

Bateman (Waterloo, Ont.) is a senior at Rochester Christian University (NAIA). He is currently hitting .277 with seven doubles, three home runs and 21 RBIs. He has the ability to play multiple positions at the collegiate level, including second base, third base and catcher.

Bateman will be joining the Red Sox full-time for the first time. He has spent three seasons with the club as a JR call up. In his IBL career, he has hit .259 with three doubles and 11 RBIs in 35 games.

“Lucas will have a great opportunity in 2025 to showcase his skills in the IBL. His versatility is a great asset. It will be great to see how he succeeds with larger responsibilities in 2025,” said Red Sox GM Jeff Lounsbury.

The Brantford Red Sox were founded in 1911 and have won 15 Intercounty Baseball League titles. Their home games for the 2025 season will be free to attend.
