GUELPH, ONT. - The Guelph Royals have re-signed outfielder Ashton Patterson.

Patterson, 22, will return for his fourth season with the team this spring.

The Kitchener, Ont., native enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2024, highlighted by being one of the more impactful Royals in the playoffs.

In the Royals run to the finals, the outfielder batted .405, while walking more (10) than striking out (8).

His most memorable play came in game one of the finals, when he threw a speedy Canice Ejoh (Toronto, Ont.) out at the plate as the potential game-winning run.

Patterson said he is looking forward to taking another step in 2025.

“I’m super excited to be back with the Royals this year. Last year left a bitter taste in our mouths and I know this group is looking to build off that and bring a championship to Guelph.”

Royals assistant general manager Ryan Eakin is excited to have Patterson back in the fold.

“We are very excited to have Ashton back. We think he is a starting calibre player in this league who has a very high floor as someone who can provide ‘plus’ speed and defence for us. He plays the game the right way and never cheats us on effort. He is a true sparkplug for us.”
