GUELPH, Ont. - The Guelph Royals have re-signed outfielder J.D. Williams (Toronto, Ont.).

Williams, 26, debuted with the Royals in 2022 after a four-year minor league career in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

In 2022, the Toronto native batted a stellar .341 and swiped 12 bases in 29 regular season games.

Williams feels the Royals have some unfinished business this summer.

"I'm excited to be back in Guelph,” he said. “Last year didn't end the way we wanted it to but I'm confident in the group of guys we have this year to compete for a championship."

Royals field manager Dino Roumel said he is pumped to have Williams back in the fold.

"J.D. is one of my favourite players,” he said. “There are very few players who have the instincts he does on the field. It has always come so naturally for him. He is versatile, can hit for average and power, and defensively, he can play the outfield and as a middle infielder. I'm so excited to have him back with us."
