Official Hamilton Cardinals News Release
The Hamilton Cardinals have signed right-handed pitcher Williams Ramirez (San Juan, D.R.).
Ramirez spent seven seasons in the Minnesota Twins’ organization, rising as high as double-A in 2019. In his professional minor league career, he posted a 23-14 record and a 2.77 ERA in 163 games, including 29 starts, spanning 344 2/3 innings. He registered 404 strikeouts and only 186 walks.
“Williams has an over 11 strikeout per 9 inning ratio over his career and a better than 2-1 strikeout to walk ratio. I feel he will do a great job on the back end of close games for us in the IBL but [he] also has starting experience if he is required to do so. He is also just 29 years old and I feel still gives us some upside. We look forward to having him here in Hamilton,” said Cardinals GM Jeff Lounsbury.
The Hamilton Cardinals are a member of the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, established in 1919.
