Official London Majors News Release
The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of Jacob Startek, Austin Wilkie, Bo Buckley and Arturo Guzman.
Startek, a right-handed pitcher, comes to the Majors from the Sonoma State Seawolves where due to COVID 19 their 2019-20 season was postponed. The 6-foot-6 Oakville, Ont., native will be attending the University of Western Ontario in the fall.
Austin Wilkie, from Mississauga Ont., joins the Majors from Connors State College in 2020 but will now call Western University (UWO, London) home in the fall. Wilkie also played for the Brantford Red Sox in 2019. The 6-foot-2 outfielder hit for an average of .231 with two home runs, six doubles and 11 RBIs in 25 games with the Red Sox.
Right-handed pitcher Bo Buckley has also been signed. He has just returned from The Clubhouse in Fairfield, Ct. where he pitched for a record of 2-0 and an ERA of 0.40, while striking out 16 batters with one walk over 17 innings on the season. He will be attending NCAA Division 1 Fairfield Buckley in the fall.
Guzman will be someone that Majors fans may recognize as he joined the Majors for the Legacy Classic in 2020. He is a London resident that will be used as a utility player for the Majors this season.
The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
