Blue Jays from Away

The Toronto Blue Jays minor league affiliates were 5-1 in six games on Wednesday, getting strong pitching performances in three games at the highest levels of the organization.

Buffalo Bisons 5, Toledo Mud Hens (DET) 4

The Buffalo Bisons beat the Toledo Mud Hens for the second game in a row but this time it was a closer affair, with the Bisons scoring once in the 10th to tie the game and again in the 11th to walk off with a 5-4 win.

Jordan Patterson was 1/3 with a solo home run in the second inning and Roemon Fields was 1/3 with a solo home run in the third. Richard Urena was 2/5 with an RBI while Anthony Alford was 2/5 with an RBI and a run. Santiago Espinal was 2/4 with a double, a walk and an RBI but was also caught stealing. Socrates Brito was 1/2 with two walks while Andy Burns was 1/5.

T.J. Zeuch had a strong outing, throwing six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and two walks, striking out six and getting seven ground outs to just two fly outs. Zach Jackson started the seventh, giving up three runs on four hits (including a home run) with one strikeout in 1/3 of an inning, leaving a runner for Kirby Snead who stranded him, walking one and striking out one in 2/3 of an inning. Ty Tice tossed two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk but striking out three and Jason Adam got the win, throwing two innings, allowing an unearned run on a hit with three strikeouts.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 1, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (NYM) 0

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats tossed a shutout at the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, winning 1-0.

Yennsy Diaz threw five scoreless innings, allowing only three hits and two walks with four strikeouts for his ninth win. William Ouellette struck out three in two perfect innings and Corey Copping also faced the minimum in the eighth, walking one, striking out one and getting the runner caught stealing (with the help of catcher Riley Adams). In the ninth, Dany Jimenez retired the side, giving up a hit and a walk, earning his fourth save.

Cullen Large had another two hits for the Fisher Cats while Christian Williams was 2/4 with an RBI. Chad Spanberger was 1/2 with two walks, a run and an outfield assist while Kevin Smith was 1/3 with a walk.

Dunedin Blue Jays 6, Clearwater Threshers (PHI) 0

The Dunedin Blue Jays won again, throwing a shutout at the Clearwater Threshers for a 6-0 win.

Maximo Castillo came off the IL to toss 5 2/3 innings of one-hit ball, walking one and striking out four for his ninth win. Sean Rackoski walked one in 2 1/3 innings, striking out four and Connor Law allowed a hit and a walk, striking out one to preserve the shutout with a scoreless ninth.

Ryan Noda was 1/3 with two walks, a double, an RBI and two runs while Kacy Clemens was 2/4 with a triple, a walk, two RBI and a run. Demi Orimoloye (Orleans, Ont.) was 2/5 with a double and an RBI, but was caught stealing and Samad Taylor was 2/4 with a double and a stolen base. Jesus Navarro was 2/4 with an RBI. Reggie Pruitt was on base twice, going 1/4 with a walk, a run and a stolen base while Chavez Young was 1/5 with a run and a stolen base. Nick Podkul was 1/4 with an RBI.

Lansing Lugnuts 5, Fort Wayne Tin Caps (SD) 3

The Lansing Lugnuts came back from a one-run deficit in the seventh to take the lead and score an insurance run in the eighth, beating the Fort Wayne TinCaps 5-3.

Fitz Stadler had a strong outing, going six innings with two runs against on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts before handing it over to Josh Hiatt who just walked one in two innings, striking out two. Cre Finfrock came away with the save, giving up a run on a hit and a walk, hitting a batter and striking out one in the ninth.

Tanner Kirwer (Sherwood Park, Alta.) was 1/3 with a walk, an RBI, a run, an outfield assist and a stolen base for a strong all-around game. L.J. Talley drove in two, going 1/4 wtih a triple and a run while Griffin Conine was 1/4 with a double and a run. John Aiello was 1/3 with a walk and a run and Yorman Rodriguez was 1/4 with an RBI. Otto Lopez (Montreal, Que.) was 1/4 with an RBI and a run while Gabriel Moreno and Rafael Lantigua were both 1/4.

Vancouver Canadians 6, Spokane Indians (TEX) 7

The Vancouver Canadians came back to tie the Spokane Indians in the top of the eighth, scoring four runs but the Indians scored one in the 10th to beat the Canadians 7-6.

Catcher Brett Wright had two hits, going 2/4 with two runs while Ronny Brito was 1/4 with a solo home run. Philip Clarke was 1/5 with a double and two RBI, scoring a run and Mc Gregory Contreras was 1/5 with a double and an RBI. Luis De Los Santos was 1/4 with an RBI and a run while Tanner Morris was 1/4 with a walk and a run.

Alek Manoah allowed two runs on three hits (including a home run) with two strikeouts in three innings and William Gaston allowed three more runs on five hits (including a home run) with a walk and a strikeout in the next three. Josh Almonte surrendered a run on a hit and two walks, striking out one in one inning while Luke Gillingham struck out five, surrendering just a hit in two innings of work. Mike Pascoe took the loss, giving up an unearned run on a hit and a walk in 1/3 of an inning in the 10th.

DSL Blue Jays 9, DSL Padres 8

With three runs in the bottom of the eighth, the DSL Blue Jays scored enough to beat the DSL Padres 9-8.

Emmanuel Sanchez was 2/5 with a double and three RBI, scoring a run while Daniel Oliva was 2/3 with a double, a walk, three RBI, a run and was hit by a pitch. Willfrann Astudillo was 2/4 with an RBI. Yeison Jimenez was 1/2 with a double, two walks, two runs and a stolen base and Gabriel Martinez was 1/4 with a run. Amell Brzoban was 1/5 with an RBI and a run and newly signed Marcos De La Rosa was 1/2 with two walks and three runs.

Yaifer Perdomo allowed a run on three hits with two walk and two strikeouts in two innings and Junior Guzman allowed five runs on five hits and two walk with two hit batters and three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. Raudy Sanchez gave up a run on three walks, a hit batter and a wild pitch without getting an out while Andres Garcia allowed a run on a hit, three walks and balk with two strikeouts in 2/3 of an inning and stranded the bases loaded. Juan Martinez walked three over two innings and struck out one but didn't allow a run.
