Junior National Team announces extended spring training camp invitees

OTTAWA – Baseball Canada is pleased to announce the names of 35 athletes who’ve been invited to attend the Junior National Team’s Extended Spring Training Camp from April 17 to April 27 in Dunedin, Fla.
The Toronto Blue Jays Player Development Complex in Dunedin will serve as the home base to the 11-day camp that will feature daily workouts, inter-squad games and home and away games against extended spring training squads from the Toronto Blue Jays, Pittsburgh Pirates, Tampa Bay Rays and Baltimore Orioles organizations.
The Extended Spring Training Camp starts the countdown for the 2024 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBCS) Americas U-18 Baseball World Cup Qualifier which will be played later this year where Canada will try to punch their ticket to the 2025 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup.
Twenty-seven of the 35 players named to camp have previous Junior National Team experience including veterans OF Simon Baker (Cochrane, Alta.), RHP Anthony Deblois (Saint Isidore, Que.), LHP Sean Duncan (Port Coquitlam, B.C.), RHP Will Hynes (Mississauga, Ont.), C Brayden Ricketts (Brampton, Ont.), RHP Josiah Romeo (Caledon, Ont.), RHP Jacob Wallace (Pincourt, Que.), and RHP Michael Yusypchuk (Edmonton, Alta.) who began their tenure in the spring of 2023.
Six players will also be making their Junior National Team debut in Dunedin as SS Tommy Hanger (Toronto, Ont.), LHP Russell Kwinter (Toronto, Ont.), RHP William Labonte (Okotoks, Alta.), RHP Kyuhan Lumsdon (Vancouver, B.C.), LHP Sheamus Ryan (Calgary, Alta.), and OF Ryan Stalony (Mississauga, Ont.) will wear Canada across their chest for the first time in their careers.
Head coach Greg Hamilton leads the coaching staff that includes former National Team players Andrew Albers, T.J. Burton, Pierre-Luc Laforest, Pete Orr, Chris Reitsma, Adam Stern and Rene Tosoni.
