The Junior National Team lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates DR squad in a 7-5 thriller on Friday that saw the two squads exchange runs in the late innings.

The Canadians ended up with five runs on four hits, but they were held hitless through the first six innings. They scored a run in the fourth after a couple of walks and a sacrifice fly.

On the mound, Tate Carey (Windsor, Ont.) started for the Juniors and struck out two in two hitless innings. Ben Goodacre (Ancaster, Ont.) later contributed two solid innings in relief, allowing only a hit while striking out two.

The Juniors rallied for four runs to take a 5-4 lead in the seventh after Brayden Ricketts (Brampton, Ont.), Quinn Carson (Oakville, Ont.), and Gianluca Montanaro (Aurora, Ont.) all picked up RBI singles.

Aiden Taggart (Grimsby, Ont.) worked the last three innings for the Juniors, allowing three runs on three hits, while striking out three.
