The Junior National Team dropped a 3-2 heartbreaker in extra innings against the Toronto Blue Jays DR team on Thursday.

Box Score

Jacob Wallace (Pincourt, Que.) started on the mound for the Juniors, working five outstanding innings, allowing only a pair of hits and an unearned run, while striking out four.

The Juniors were hitless until the top of the fourth inning when Carter Cathers (Nanaimo, BC) smashed a one- out double to right field.

They would then tie the game in the sixth on a defensive miscue that allowed Dante Smith (Ajax, Ont.) to score.

The Blue Jays DR squad would respond with a run of their own in the bottom half to retake a 2-1 lead at the time.

The Juniors forced extra innings after tying the game in the top of the eighth, as an error allowed Simon Baker (Cochrane, Alta.) to score after an Anthony Clavet (Quebec, Que.) single to centre field.

Merek Yeager (Muenster, Sask.) had a strong appearance in relief, despite picking up the loss. The right-hander limited the Jays to two runs, only one of them earned, on five hits while punching out five.
