Former Boston Red Sox draft pick Nathan Landry has signed with the Trois-Rivières Aigles of the independent Frontier League.
The Aigles made the announcement on Friday.
The 6-foot-2 left-hander, who hails from Victoriaville, Que., was released by the Red Sox on Monday after spending parts of three seasons with the organization.
Landry, 25, had posted a 2-1 record and a 5.24 ERA in 24 relief appearances for the Red Sox High-A Greenville Drive this season.
The Aigles added Landry after learning that southpaw Didier Vargas would be sidelined for the rest of the season.
Landry, a Laflèche College grad, was selected in the 15th round of the 2022 MLB draft by the Red Sox out of the University of Missouri.
In total in parts of three minor league seasons with the Red Sox, at the Rookie Ball, Low-A and High-A levels, Landry posted a 3-2 and a 5.27 ERA in 53 appearances. He struck out 87 batters in 82 innings.
The Aigles indicated in their press release that Landry will join his new teammates “in the next few days.” The Aigles have 11 regular season games remaining.
