Munro: Stairs has most MLB grand slams by Canadian

Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Freddie Freeman’s dramatic, walk-off grand slam in Game 1 of this year’s World Series inspired me to update my list of Canadians who have hit grand slams in the big leagues.
Technically, Freeman is not Canadian, but both of his parents were born north of the border and he has suited up for Canada at the last two World Baseball Classics.
So, how many Canadian-born players have hit grand slams in the big leagues?
The answer is 26.
There are also four players - including Freeman - who were not born in Canada but either have Canadian citizenship or have played for the Canadian national team.
In total, Canadian-born players have combined to sock 77 major league grand slams, with Matt Stairs (Fredericton, N.B.) leading the way with 12.
