The Junior National Team lost 8-0 to the Phillies extended squad on Friday morning in Clearwater, Fla.
On the mound, Sean Duncan (Port Coquitlam, BC) tossed a clean first inning, picking up a strikeout and retiring the side on just 13 pitches
Phillip Cheong (Richmond Hill, Ont.), Tim Piasentin (Coquitlam, BC) and Jordan Jacob (Maple, Ont.) recorded the only three hits for the Juniors, as the Phillies delivered the Canadians their first shutout loss of the Extended Spring Training Camp.
William Labonte (Montréal, Que.) worked three scoreless frames, racking up a pair of strikeouts, while Jake Fehr (Delta, BC) made his Junior National Team debut, tossing the last two frames.
The Junior National Team will be off on Sunday but will resume camp activities on Monday as they will try to even up the series against the Toronto Blue Jays extended squad.
