The Ontario Royals are excited to announce that Mattingly Romanin has joined the program as 18U Head Coach for the 2020/21 season.

Prior to his coaching career, Mattingly has had an extensive playing career both collegiately and professionally. After graduating from Notre Dame High School, the Burlington, Ont., native attended Chicago State University (NCAA D1).

During his four-year career at CSU, Mattingly played in 208 games, posted an impressive .307 batting average, .411 on-base percentage, and ranks first in CSU History in Hits (237), Doubles (43), Runs Batted In (125), Total Bases (329), and second in Runs Scored (129), and walks (108). Mattingly was named an All-Conference Infielder three times (2013, ‘14, ‘15) at two different positions (2B, 3B).

Mattingly was selected in the 2015 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 39th round, and played across three MiLB (minor league) levels from 2015-2017, including winning a 2017 Northwest League Championship with the Vancouver Canadians (Blue Jays Class-A Short Season affiliate).

Coach Romanin will join the Royals after most recently coaching with the Burlington Bulls 16U EBLO program and operating as General Manager of the Power Alley indoor baseball facility in Burlington, Ont. Mattingly is a Driveline Certified Hitting Instructor, and will be a huge addition to both our baseball staff as well as our College Placement team.
