OKOTOKS, ALTA.- Saturday, August 14, 2021 will be a special day for baseball fans across the country and in particular in Western Canada as the Edmonton Prospects of the summer collegiate, Western Canadian Baseball League (“WCBL”) will launch “Baseball Day in Canada.”

Although hosted by the Prospects, the event will take place at beautiful Seaman Stadium in Okotoks, Alta.Seaman Stadium is a state of the art, $22M baseball complex that is the flagship facility of the WCBL and home to the highly successful,Okotoks Dawgs, defending WCBL champions.U.S. online resources, Ballpark Biz and Ballpark Digest, have consistently ranked the Dawgs third in North America among summer collegiate franchises in attendance with 4,000 fans per game.

Coming off two years of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be a celebration of everything good and positive about baseball in Canada. The WCBL is the only high level league in the country, apart from the majors where the Blue Jays have finally come home to Rogers Centre, which has offered its fans and players a competitive 2021 season. The response of baseball fans to once again be able to celebrate this fabulous outdoor summer activity with family and friends has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic.

“Baseball Day in Canada” will offer various events all built around WCBL action featuring the host Edmonton Prospects against the defending champion Okotoks Dawgs.Games are scheduled as follows:

2:05 p.m.: Dawgs v. Prospects Seaman Stadium Okotoks, Alta.

7:05 p.m.: Dawgs v. Prospects Seaman Stadium Okotoks, Alta.

The Live Stream will feature a number of interviews with some of Canada’s most influential and prominent baseball people, including Hall of Fame journalist, Bob Elliott of the Canadian Baseball Network, Scott Crawford, director of operations of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, former major leaguer and current President of Baseball Canada, Jason Dickson, Alberta’s Minister of Culture, Ron Orr, Martin Long, Alberta’s Secretary for Small Business and Tourism, Okotoks Dawgs founding and managing director, John Ircandia, recent WCBL Major League draft selections, former Dawgs standout Tristan Peters (Milwaukee Brewers) and former Prospects ace, Erik Sabrowski (San Diego Padres), Ian Wilson of Alberta Dugout Stories and WCBL President, Kevin Kvame among others.

The interviews will offer commentary on the state of baseball in the country and will be conducted by veteran sports media personalities, Dean Millard of Podcast Alley and Joe McFarland of Alberta Dugout Stories.

A Fireworks Display will follow at the conclusion of the nightcap between the Prospects and the Dawgs.
