Fort McMurray Giants Release
The Fort McMurray Giants would first like to thank Andrew Swaggers for his contribution to the Giants’ organization and seeing it through a rebranding and helping the Giants build new relationships in the community and beyond.
Keeping it in the family
The Giants are thrilled to announce the promotion of Josh Iannetti to general manager. A lifelong Fort McMurray resident, he has been integral to the Giants since their inception in 2016, contributing both on and off the field.
As a player, he notably caught 16 consecutive games in 2016 and led the team in on-base percentage in 2018. Transitioning to the front office, he served as the director of corporate sponsorships, playing a key role in the growth of the team’s community engagement efforts over the last three seasons.
In his new role as GM, he is committed to enhancing the fan experience at Legacy Dodge Field. He plans to introduce exciting events like Firework Fridays and hosting Monster Pro Wrestling at the park while the Giants are on the road, along with unique in-game features such as flying donairs, and new interactive games on the field and in the stands.
His deep roots in Fort McMurray and passion for community involvement position him well to expand the team’s presence and impact within Fort McMurray.
His promotion continues the Iannetti family’s legacy with the Giants, and baseball. His parents, Dutche and Dianne Iannetti, are the team’s owners and were instrumental in bringing Western Canadian Baseball League action to Fort McMurray.
