Melville Millionaires 7 Yorkton Cardinals 2

The Yorkton Cardinals suffered their 26th loss of the season to the hands of the Melville Millionaires by a score of 7-2. The loss drops the Cardinals record to 2-26, as the Millionaires rise to 12-17.

Millionaires catcher, Jake Green finished the game with three RBIs and a double in the win, as his teammate, Braeden Dobbs went 3-4 with a stolen base and an RBI.

Chris Lacher, Tanner Solomon, and Chris Paruleski each pitched three innings a piece in the win, striking out 11 Yorkton batters as a group.

Okotoks Dawgs 4 Edmonton Prospects 2

The Okotoks Dawgs padded to their lead in the WCBL’s West Division, defeating the Edmonton Prospects 4-2. The victory gives the Dawgs a record of 23-6 for the season, as the Prospects fall to 14-18, dropping out of a playoff spot.

Dawgs outfielder, Tristan Peters has put together quite the season in his second year in the WCBL thus far and impressed fans once again going 2-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native is now batting a league leading .457, with seven homers, and 28 RBI’s.

Billy Brand got the start for the victorious Dawgs, tossing five innings, striking out five batters, allowing two earned runs. Tanner Simpson and Dustin Schorie also pitched in the win, with Schorie picking up the save.

Weyburn Beavers 9 Lethbridge Bulls 1

The Weyburn Beavers won their 20th game of the season, as they defeated the Lethbridge Bulls 9-1. The win keeps the Beavers tied for the East Division lead with the Regina Red Sox, with both teams holding a record 20-7. The Bulls still remain in second in the West Division with a record of 17-15.

Beavers outfielder, Cory Wills impressed at the plate, going 3-5 with a double, two RBI’s, and two runs scored, as his teammate, Tyler Scott finished the ballgame 3-4 with a double and two RBI’s.

Receiving the start for Weyburn was Shaun Logan, who pitched six innings, striking out four Lethbridge batters. Pearce Wilhelm tossed the final three innings of the ballgame allowing only two hits, striking out three.

Regina Red Sox 7 Brooks Bombers 0

The Regina Red Sox shut out the Brooks Bombers 7-0, as the Red Sox remain tied for first place in the East Division with the Weyburn Beavers. The Bombers woes continue, as they are now 6.5 GB of a playoff spot and sit in last place in the West Division with a record of 7-23.

Ivan Nunez and Riki DeSa each cranked homers in the victory for Regina, as Nunez finished the ballgame 1-4 with two RBI’s, while DeSa drove in four RBI’s, finishing 1-4.

Austin Alarid pitched a gem, tossing eight innings, striking out seven, allowing only three hits for the Red Sox. Jackson Cofer pitched the final inning of the ballgame, retiring each Bombers batter he faced.

Fort McMurray Giants 7 Moose Jaw Miller Express 2

The Fort McMurray Giants climbed into third place in the WCBL’s West Division defeating the Moose Jaw Miller Express 7-2. The win the rises the Giants record to 14-15, as the Miller Express fall to 14-13.

Giants designated hitter, Richard Ortiz finished the ballgame 2-4 with a walk, and one RBI.

Ike Buxton got the start for Fort McMurray, as he pitched five innings, striking out two Moose Jaw Batters. Ryan Moroz tossed the final 4 innings, striking out four.

Swift Current 57’s 7 Medicine Hat Mavericks 4

The Swift Current 57’s defeated the Medicine Hat Mavericks 7-4, bringing their record up to 18-11 for the season. The loss crushes the Mavericks five-game win streak, as they sit with a record of 14-17.

It was a team victory for the 57’s, as seven different batters collected hits, but it was Tanner Holen doing most of the damage for his club, finishing the ballgame 2-5 with two doubles and two RBI’s.

Brandon O’Neill started for the 57’s, pitching five innings, before Garrett Hawkins came in relief tossing three innings, striking out three batters and not allowing a hit. Garrett Alexander collected the save, after tossing the final inning, striking two batters and not allowing a baserunner.
