Bremner, Davalan make Dick Howser list of finalists

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Dick Howser committee has decided on its semifinalists for the 2025 Dick Howser Trophy — awarded annually to the collegiate player of the year. UC Santa Barbara Gauchos RHP Tyler Bremner, whose parents are from Mississauga, Ont. and Queensville, Ont., and Arkansas Razorbacks OF Charles Davalan ((St-Bruno-De-Montarville, Que.) are the two Canucks to make the 64-player list.

Major leaguers Michael Saunders (Victoria, BC) and Tyler O’Neill (Maple Ridge, BC) were drafted by legendary Canadian and Seattle Mariners scout Wayne Norton (Langley, BC). Saunders was there last week when Doug Mathieson’s Langley Blaze travelled to Arizona to play Seattle Mariners’ first and second-year pros in the annual Wayne Norton memorial game.
