Sarnia adds four arms for nationals

The Sarnia Braves, fresh off their Elimination win last weekend, have started their preparations for the nationals by adding four pick-ups to help bolster their roster. The Braves have added RHPs Jack Zimmerman of the Windsor Stars, Kyle Breitner of the Tecumseh Thunder, Tomas Rincon of the Mississauga Southwest Twins and LHP Taylor Pappin also of the Thunder.

Sarnia walks off to grab senior OBA title

The Sarnia Braves captured the senior elimination championship Monday evening in Windsor. The win, the team’s third ever provincial crown and first title since 1994, books a ticket to the Canadian championships which will be held in Miramichi, N.B. on Aug. 22-25.

Thunder tries to roll for sixth consecutive time

It is that time of the year again with the Ontario Men’s senior elimination Tournament coming up this weekend in Windsor. Dreams will come true, hearts will be broken and memories will be made. The 13U championships will be held in St. Thomas, the 15U Mississauga Southwest, the 18U title will be decided in Burlington and the 21U championship will be decided in Oshawa.

Burlington takes Metros to school behind Ryerson

The Burlington Brants had a bit of a down week as they prepared for the Hap Walters Invitational Tournament. That, however, didn’t stop them from winning their lone regular season COBA game of the week. The Brants made the trek down to St. Catharines to take on the Niagara Metros at George Taylor Field.

COBA Preview: Niagara Metros

Canadian Baseball Network contributor Dan Estey writes that the Niagara Metros are back in the COBA Major Baseball League for the 2019 season. The club, who will be led by GM Jono Marchetere and head coach Kerry Hedden, will be looking to right the ship after a bit of a rocky 2018 season. Last season the team went 15–24–1 overall and 12–15–1 in league play, good for top spot in the Johnson Division and fourth spot overall in the league.

COBA Preview: Mississauga SW Twins

Canadian Baseball Network writer Dan Estey writes that the Mississauga SW Twins are back in action in the COBA Major Baseball League for the 2019 season. The veteran club, led by head coach Mike Smith and assistant coach Dave Paish, had an average season last year (for their standards) as they went 20–17–2 overall and 13–11– 2 in league play good for third place in the Andrews Division and third place overall in the league.

The Brants, who are led by coaches Rick Ellis and Peter Lambert, had a down year in 2018 going 11–24 – 3 overall and 9– 15–3 in league play, good for third place in the Johnson Division and seventh place overall in the loop. The veteran laden club will be looking to add a few bodies and try and improve their standing heading into the 2019 season.
