Scouting Reports:
Baseball America
Shred is another high-ceiling Canadian in this year’s class. Shred’s best tools are behind the plate, where he has quick feet and a quiet glove. He has a solid-average arm and a quick release. Shred also has some promise as a hitter, though his swing is raw.
Shred uses a slight drop and hitch load and he upper cuts regularly. He will need more strength in his trunk to cut down on his back side collapse and maintain balance through the swing. Shred has some feel at the plate, and his potential to play up the middle could make him an intriguing target for teams. He is committed to Chipola (Fla.) JC.
Perfect Game
Shred was a well-known prospect coming off last summer and fall and played very well in Team Canada’s tour of Florida in March with other top prospects such as Josh Naylor and Demi Oromoloye. He is an extremely strong righthanded hitter with a power approach at the plate that will create some swing-and-miss but has the capability of leaving the yard at any time.
Shred has plus arm strength behind the plate and is a agile blocker with improving footwork. Some also like his two-way potential off the mound, where he has been up to 90 mph with a nice curveball.
