I’m back from my sojourn to the Ottawa area for a couple of performances at a Medieval Festival where Wi-Fi wasn’t part of the package. It’s time to catch up on the weekend’s action in the Blue Jays’ minor leagues. The Blue Jays went 2-1 against the Fort Myers Miracle, helping to consolidate a 1 1/2-game lead on the Daytona Tortugas for first place in the Florida State League North division for the second half.

Friday
Dunedin Blue Jays 2, Fort Myers Miracle 1
After a delay of over 1 1/2 hours, Sean Reid-Foley continued to dominate in Dunedin, pushing his record to 4-0 and raising his ERA to 0.86 with a four-hit, one-run performance through five innings in a 2-1 win. Reid-Foley struck out six batters and walked only one in his outing before Alonzo Gonzalez (3 IP, 3 K) and Colton Turner (1 IP, 1 K), finished the game, retiring the final 12 Fort Myers batters in order.

The hitters had seven hits, getting hits from each of the middle seven batters in the order with Andy Fermin hitting a double and Gunnar Heidt driving in the only run. Danny Jansen made his return to the D-Jays, going 1/3.

Saturday
Dunedin Blue Jays 4, Fort Myers Miracle 6
Dunedin fell to the Fort Myers Miracle on Saturday but it wasn’t because of Richard Urena’s efforts. Urena led the offense, going 5/5 with a double and a run. Ryan McBroom (2/5, RBI, R), Mike Reeves (2/3, BB, RBI) and Michael De La Cruz (playing 3B, 2/3, BB, RBI) each had two-hit games. Gunnar Heidt was on base four times with a 1/1 game, walking three times, driving in one and scoring once.

Brad Allen started the game, throwing three innings and allowing four runs (two earned) on two home runs among five hits, walking three and striking out five. Geno Encina allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits (including a home run) with one walk and one strikeout. 2016 10th-round pick Kirby Snead made his pro debut, throwing two innings, walking two and striking out one.

Sunday
Dunedin Blue Jays 6, Fort Myers Miracle 1
Justin Shafer had a strong outing on Sunday, giving Dunedin a 6-1 win over the Miracle while also giving them at least a series split in the four-game tilt. Shafer picked up his third win with six scoreless innings, giving up five hits and striking out two. Adonys Cardona (1 IP, 2 K), Dusty Isaacs (1 IP) and Carlos Ramirez (1 IP, 3 H, 1 R) finished off the game with an inning each.

Richard Urena had another strong game, bringing his batting average to .297 with a 3/5 match, hitting a single, double and triple, driving in one and scoring twice. Gunnar Heidt also had three hits, going 3/5 with a double and three RBI. Anthony Alford was 1/4 with a run, a stolen base, a walk and an RBI but he has struggled this year to the tune of a .184/.282/.257 slash line.

Roster Notes _ July 8: Francisco Rios was placed on the temporarily inactive list (to attend the MLB Futures Game) and Geno Encina was assigned to Dunedin from Lansing. C Danny Jansen was activated from the DL and L.B. Dantzler was placed on the DL.

July 9: LHP Kirby Snead was assigned to Dunedin and activated.
