Blue Jays from Away
We hit the Major League All-Star Break but there’s still minor league baseball to follow even with the top levels of the minors also taking a break. The six clubs in action went 4-2 on Monday.

Dunedin Blue Jays 5, Fort Myers Miracle 1
Dunedin continued its strong play in the second half with a 5-1 win over the Fort Myers Miracle on Monday. The club moved into a 1 1/2-game lead in their division (over Daytona) thanks to a strong outing from Conor Fisk and a home run from Ryan McBroom. Fisk went 6 2/3 innings, allowing the Miracle’s only run on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Dusty Isaacs finished the seventh and Jose Fernandez threw two innings, walking two and striking out two to finish the game.
McBroom went “McBoom,” hitting his 13th home run of the year and going 2/4. Danny Jansen was 1/4 with two RBI and Mike Reeves was 1/3 with a double, a walk and an RBI, playing third base.

Lansing Lugnuts 5, Lake County Captains 0
Jon Harris continues his stellar season, going to 8-1 in a 5-0 Lansing win. Harris threw seven innings of four-hit ball, walking just one and striking out three to lower his ERA to 2.28 on the season. Tom Robson had an encouraging outing, walking only one batter and striking out four in two innings to close out the game.
Max Pentecost was 3/4 with his sixth home run of the season, hitting a double and single as well as the round-tripper, driving in three and scoring once (adding a stolen base). Ryan Hissey was 2/4 and Jake Thomas was 1/3 with a walk and two runs.

Vancouver Canadians 1, Tri-City Dust Devils 4
The Canadians lost their Monday game against the Tri-City Dust Devils, primarily because they could only score one run and not until the ninth inning. With just five hits, the Canadians’ offense was lacklustre with Christian Williams providing the only multi-hit game and the only extra-base hit (a 2/4 game with a double).
Juliandry Higuera started and allowed two run son three hits and three walks with four strikeouts over five innings. Gabe Noyalis allowed a hit in his inning while Grayson Huffman gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits in his inning, striking out two. Nick Hartman pitched a scoreless eighth and Matt Smoral struck out the side in the ninth inning.

Bluefield Blue Jays 9, Johnson City Cardinals 14
It was a good-old Johnson City slugfest as the Blue Jays and Cardinals battered the ball but the Cards came out of the battle with the 14-9 win. Cam O’Brien was 2/2 with a double and a run after entering the game in the seventh inning for Matt Morgan (who was 0/1 with a walk). Nick Sinay was 2/4 with a walk and a stolen base while Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. was 1/4 with a double, a walk and three RBI. Kalik May was 1/1 with two walks and two runs coming into the game for Edward Olivares.
Jose Espada got the start and wasn’t sharp. Despite striking out six batters, he was hit hard to the tune of 10 hits and seven runs in 3 2/3 innings. Kyle Weatherly allowed another three runs on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings. Andrew Deramo allowed three more runs in the sixth inning and Hunter Barnett gave up an unearned run on two hits in two innings.
Player of the Game: Cam O’Brien and Nick Sinay
GCL Blue Jays 5, GCL Tigers West 4
The Blue Jays scored late, getting two runs in each of the seventh and eighth innings to come back from behind the Tigers to win 5-4. Maximo Castillo allowed just one run on three hits and three walks with three strikeouts in four innings for the Blue Jays while Randy Pondler followed with two innings, giving up a run on a hit but four walks with three strikeouts. Juan Meza threw a scoreless seventh inning, allowing a hit and Jake Fishman (1 1/3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 K) and Brayden Bouchey (S, 2/3 IP, BB, 2 K) finished the game.
David Jacob continues to hit the ball hard, going 1/3 with a home run and two RBI. Norberto Obeso was 2/5 with a home run of his own and Bo Bichette hit a triple.

DSL Blue Jays 5, DSL D-backs 0
Despite being outhit, the Blue Jays scored five times to beat the division-leading DSL D-backs 5-0 on Monday. Elio Silva threw six scoreless innings, allowing seven hits and one walk with two strikeouts before Adams Cuevas took over, earning the save with three innings of one-hit, one-walk ball, striking out two.
The Blue Jays only had three hits including a double from Luis De Los Santos.
