Terriers win competition for Jepson

John Jepson, who started the Toronto Mets with Jason Chee-Aloy, hit the free agent market this month. The Ontario Terriers were fastest on the draw, now that PBLO commissioner Don Campbell and loop lawyers have appproved the signing.

The Baseball Zone and The Terriers have added John Jepson to their management group effective Tuesday.

Many of the Terriers staff and some families know and have already met Jepson at a ball diamond or at a meeting. He can usually be spotted talking pucks with Danny Thompson discussing the fourth-line combination of their team -- the Montreal Canadiens -- and looking forward to the day when Toronto finally gets an NHL franchise.

Jason Chee-Aloy and Jepson, in association with the TBA, founded the Toronto Mets Baseball Club in September of 2004. Jepson has been the face of the Mets program right up until his departure this month.

A fully certified Level II coach Jepson has managed several national championship teams, yet his real passion is organization, communication and relationship building requirements of an organization such as one of the country’s leading elite programs like the Terriers. In his new position with the Terriers he will take on the responsibility of manager of communications and relations.

Jepson brings to TBZ and The Terriers a great deal of experience in team administration, tournament organization and relationship building as past president of the PBLO. Don Campbell (Ottawa, Ont.) is attempting to fill his shoes, as George Jones used to sing.

He has extensive relationships within the PBLO, The OBA, Baseball Quebec and Baseball Canada. John and his wife Linda reside in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
