An NAIA record, power and a scoreless start highlight this week’s Terriers college alumn performances.
Gomm helps Pilots to 40-0 record
Austin Gomm (Georgetown, Ont.) had two hits, walked twice, drove in three and stole a base as the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics No. 1 LSU Shreveport won all four of their game. The Pilots are now 40-0, the best start in NAIA history.
Green, Hammill combine for four home runs
Jason Green (Georgetown, Ont.) hit a solo shot and a two-run home run in Niagara’s 14-4 Game 3 win over Siena.
Teammate Elijha Hammill (Toronto, Ont.) had two home runs of his own in the game, both two-run homers.
Green also walked and Hammill had a hit, walked twice and stole a base in Game 1.
Kwinter goes seven scoreless
Left-hander Russell Kwinter (Toronto, Ont.) tossed seven scoreless innings to lead the University of Chicago to a 5-0 win over Division III No. 24 Case Western Reserve. He allowed five hits and struck out three.
Chee-Aloy chips in four hits
Outfielder Cameron Chee-Aloy (Toronto, Ont.) collected four hits, walked twice, drove in a run and was hit by a pitch in four games for Illinois. With their 2-1 series win over Indiana, the Illini have now won three straight Big Ten Conference series.
Cote helps Toledo to series victory
Josh Cote (Midland, Ont.) had a hit, a RBI, a stolen base and was hit by a pitch in Toledo’s Game 3 win over Eastern Michigan. The victory secured the series for the Rockets.
Three hits for Pinkney
Catcher Hugh Pinkney (Toronto, Ont.) produced three hits, six walks and two RBIs on the week for Tulane.
Brown with a scoreless appearance
Right-hander Matt Brown threw a scoreless inning and allowed a hit in the University of South Florida’s 3-1 midweek loss to Stetson.
