Canadian outfielder Noah Myers has been red-hot for the Tampa Bay Rays’ High-A Bowling Green Hot Rods.
In five games last week, he went 7-for-13 (.538 batting average) with two doubles, a triple, a home run, seven runs, seven walks and two stolen bases.
For his efforts, he has been named the Canadian Baseball Network’s minor league Player of the Week. He has also been named the South Atlantic League Player of the Week.
Myers’ best performance came in his first game last week, when he went 4-for-4 with a three-run home run and four RBIs to propel the Hot Rods to a 10-3 win over the Rome Emperors on April 8. Myers also had three singles, a walk and a stolen base in the contest.
Batting cleanup and starting in left field the following day, the fleet-footed Canuck was 1-for-3 with a double, a run and a walk in the Hot Rods’ 7-3 loss to the Emperors.
After a three-walk game on Friday, he had a double and a triple on Sunday and scored the game-winning run in the Hot Rods’ 3-2 walk-off victory over the Emperors.
In total, in eight games for the Hot Rods this season, the 25-year-old Myers is 12-for-24 (.500 batting average) with 10 runs and 11 RBIs.
