A three-run rally in the eighth inning helped the Junior National Team pull away and secure a 7-3 victory over the New York Yankees extended squad on Tuesday.

Box Score

Elliott Lascelles (Toronto, Ont.) came through with a clutch two-run single and later scored on Quinn Carson’s (Oakville, Ont.) base hit to cap the big offensive inning for the Canadians.

On the mound, the Junior National Team pitching staff was outstanding against the Yanks with Shane Brinham (North Vancouver, BC), Will Hynes (Mississauga, Ont.) and Julian Sabourin (Ancaster, Ont.) each tossing three innings of one-run ball and combining for seven strikeouts.

Easton Kitura (Spruce Grove, Alta.) had a solid day at the plate, finishing a perfect 2-for-2.

With the win the Junior National Team secures their first victory against pro competition and improve their record to 2-4 at the Extended Spring Training Camp.

The Canadians will be back in action on Wednesday against the Fort Lauderdale Stars.
