CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following 10 Cascade Collegiate Conference student-athletes have been recognized as the CCC Players of the Week for their performances during competition from April 7 – April 13, 2025.
Baseball – Player
(RV) University of British Columbia’s Jonny McGill was named the CCC Baseball Player of the Week for the second time this season.
McGill, a Langley Blaze alum and senior outfielder from Richmond, B.C., had tremendous performances on the diamond, helping lead the Thunderbirds to a series sweep over (RV) Bushnell University. He recorded a .588 batting average and a 1.353 slugging percentage with 10 hits, three doubles, two triples, and two home runs. He also added eight runs and nine RBIs while earning a .650 on base percentage. McGill held a perfect fielding percentage to round out his impressive weekend.
Baseball – Pitcher
(RV) University of British Columbia’s Ryan Beitel was named the CCC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Beitel, a Langley Blaze grad and senior from Surrey, B.C., had a fantastic performance on the mound against Bushnell, leading to a 7-1 victory. He allowed just one earned run and two hits while striking out a season high 10 batters in eight innings for a 1.13 ERA.
Softball – Player
No. 2-ranked Oregon Tech’s Zoe Allen was named the CCC Softball Player of the Week.
Allen, a senior outfielder from Hillsboro, Ore., had an outstanding outing for the Owls, helping lead to a 6-0 week. She recorded 12 hits, including two doubles and a triple for a .571 batting average and a .762 slugging percentage. Across the weekend she tallied 10 runs, six RBIs, and stole eight bases. She was also perfect on defense to round out her impressive performances.
Softball – Pitcher
No. 1-ranked Southern Oregon University’s Ayla Davies was named the CCC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the fifth time this season.
Davies, a freshman from Burns, Ore., had another terrific outing on the mound for SOU against UBC. She allowed just two earned runs across 16.2 innings with 12 strikeouts and did not let up a walk. She earned two wins and a save for a .84 ERA and a .66 WHIP. She leads the NAIA in wins (22) and is ranked second in saves (6) and ERA (.80).
Men’s Golf – Golfer
Lewis-Clark State College’s Alex Navarro was named the CCC Men’s Golfer of the Week for the second time this season.
Navarro (69-66-74 – 209), a senior from Valencia, Spain, earned medalist honors at The SOU Spring Classic out of 51 total golfers. He finished 7-under-par and his round of 66 was the lowest of the tournament. This was his second straight tournament win and he helped the Warriors tie for the team tournament title.
Women’s Golf – Golfer
No. 1-ranked University of British Columbia’s Grace Bell was named the CCC Women’s Golfer of the Week for the third time this season.
Bell (74-68 – 142), a senior from Calgary, Alta., finished first at the SOU Spring Invite for her second individual tournament title of the season. She carded the lowest single round of the tournament with a 68 on her final 18 holes to clinch the victory by a single stroke while helping lead UBC to the team win by an outstanding 49 strokes.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Lewis-Clark State College’s Griffen Parsells was named the CCC Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Parsells, a senior runner from Rheinland Pfalz, Germany, had an outstanding week at the Jeff Rahn Classic. He finished second out of 27 total athletes in the 800m with a time of 1:50.71 to reach an NAIA “B” Standard which currently ranks third in the NAIA this season.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
Eastern Oregon University’s Tyler Jones was named the CCC Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Jones, a senior from Richland, Wash., crossed the seven foot milestone at the NNU Open. He finished first in the high jump with a mark of 2.15m to reach an NAIA “A” Standard which currently ranks at the top of the NAIA this season. He also competed in the javelin (35.69m) and the shot put (11.46m).
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
College of Idaho’s Charlotte Bowman was named the CCC Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Bowman, a graduate student from Rockland, Idaho, had a successful weekend at the NNU Open. She won the 100m (11.76) and the 200m (24.52), both reached NAIA “B” Standards, broke personal bests, and set program records. She also competed in the long jump (5.34m) and the 4x100 (48.14).
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
College of Idaho’s Star Herron was named the CCC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Herron, a senior thrower from Bellevue, Idaho, had a fantastic outing at the NNU Open. She finished first in the hammer throw (54.04m) for an NAIA “A” Standard, second in the discus (41.40m) for a personal best, and third in the shot put (11.59m).
